Following the announcement of placing Head Coach Dan Malesela and Technical Director Harris Choeu embark on a period of special leave, DSTV Premiership side Marumo Gallants have announced the appointment of interim technical team for the remainder of the season.

Former Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr has been tasked with an advisory position as a consultant, with Assistant Head Coach Raymond Mdaka filling in as interim Head Coach. Kerr, Mdaka and Sly Mosala (co-coach of the club’s DDC team) will form Gallant’s interim technical management team, with immediate effect.

According to a statement released by the club on Monday, this break is expected to give the duo of Malesela and Choeu “an opportunity to recoup energies and observe the team from a distance in order to objectively assess the causes of recent results and develop strategies to improve team performance going forward.”

The club however affirm that Malesela remains Head Coach of Gallants.

Club Chairman Abram Sello states: “I believe that Malesela and his team have done their best, however, the results show that it’s time to reflect and come up with different tactics. Losing games takes its toll mentally, physically and emotionally. Therefore, this opportunity will allow for the technical team to re-energize and come back with improved strategies. Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of pausing football games during this period, and therefore we have an interim technical team taking the reins for now. I trust my players and I know that they will continue to strive for wins and make myself and our supporters proud.”

The club also mentioned on the statement that they would now be shifting focus on upcoming league matches as well as the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stages matches kicking off in February.
