Stellenbosch FC held DStv Premiership log leaders and defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a one all draw in a league match played on Saturday night in Cape Town. Speaking after the match, Stellies coach Steve Barker said that he thought that his side did very well against a team of Sundowns standards.

“We knew that we had to use the speed of our forwards like Ashley Du Preez to catch Sundowns on the counter and that worked for us as we got a penalty in the first half and scored from there,” he said.

Baxter added that the commitment and dedication from the players was of high level and recommendable.
” However in the second half Sundowns came on us and the conditions favoured them and that helped them score the equaliser, ” Barker added.

Barker also said that Sundowns had many set pieces which he feels his players dealt with very well. Barker also praised some of the young players who he gave a chance to play against Sundowns and he felt they executed very well on the day.
In conclusion he said they were happy with a point at home against Sundowns and are looking for another challenge on Wednesday.
