The Moses Mabhida Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the Nedbank Cup final between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The Premier Soccer League announced on Sunday evening that the clash will take place at the iconic KwaZulu-Natal Stadium.

The league also confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs will be the designated home team for the final.

The Soweto Derby fixture, was confirmed on Sunday following Orlando Pirates’ victory over Marumo Gallants in the first semi-final match of the Ke Yona Ya Rona Cup, while their neighbours, Chiefs won the second fixture of the day against Mamelodi Sundowns at the packed Loftus Versfeld Stadium, that Sunday evening.

Pirates took a one- nil lead at the start of their match, which they held on to until the sound of the final whistle, while Amakhosi fought back from a one-nil trail from their hosts. Amakhosi netted two goals in the second stanza of the match, the first goal from Wandile Duba a few minutes before the match hit the one hour mark, while substitute Ashely Du Preeze netted the winning goal in the 89th minute.

The Amakhosi booked their spot in the final for the first time since 2019, where they suffered a loss to TS Galaxy who were campaigning in the National First Division at the time.

The Buccaneers are also looking to become the first team win the Nedbank Cup three times in a row under the current sponsor.

The Premier Soccer League also announced the final will be staged on the 10th of May, a week after the two teams clash in the Betway Premiership on May 03rd, at the FNB Stadium.

The time and sales of tickets will be announced by the league in due course.
