Monyepao’s appointment follows the resignation from the position by Tebogo Motlanthe, who reportedly alerted the football body of his intention to leave his position through a resignation letter, which has been accepted by the organisation’s National Executive Committee and President Danny Jordaan. SAFA hosted a press conference alongside both Monyepao and Motlanthe on Monday at SAFA House in Johannesburg confirming the news.

Monyepao is however not new at SAFA as she was previously the organisation’s chief operating officer. The Soweto-born Monyepao also played for female national side Banyana Banyana, scoring four goals and earning 20 caps.
