AmaZulu F.C will for the first time in their history compete in the continental tournament when they represent the country in the CAF Champions League starting with a game against Malawian side Nyasa Big Bullets on Friday in Durban.

Coach Benni McCarthy has said that the FIFA break was a pleasant one which was capped by Bafana Bafana beating Ghana and that they as a team worked on different aspects of the game and on how to deal with the physicality of African teams in the competition.

” It is always tricky playing a team that you have never played against before but we watched some few clips on them from Malawi and we know that they a strong team with big players and we should avoid giving away set pieces and throw ins close to the box, ” McCarty said.

He added that they would use that to their advantage as they have tricky and quick players who are diverse and can cause problems for the opposition and make sure that the create chances.

” We need to win as we know that we are playing at home so that when we go away to Malawi we can wrap up and move to the next round where they will still meet another strong team,” he added.

McCarthy said that its very important that they play well and home and win their home games.

” We learnt a lot from Kaizer Chiefs last season who were very good and home. They were ruthless when playing at home and they made sure that they win their home games. We have to do that as well to stand a better chance of doing well even away,” he said.

The former Bafana Bafana striker said that they have to win big at home so that even if they go and lose with a small margin away, they still stand the chance of going to the next round. He however said that their aim is to win home and away.
