Chippa United came back from a 0-1 down to draw three all with high flying Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership in a game played at the BidVest Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.

After the game Chippa United Coach Morgan Mammila praised his players for showing character and fighting spirit.
He said that what the players did is a lesson to the technical team as well that they should keep on fighting until the end.

“Yeah we started very slow against Richards Bay. Our intention was very clear, to control the tempo of the game and have possession and build confidence in our team. And we managed to do that for almost 30 minutes because Richards Bay were sitting back to get us on counter and we gave away two easy goals to them. They didn’t work for those goals. At half time with them leading 2-0 we came back very very strong because we were clear that we will start very slow and grow in confidence.

I am proud of my boys because they fought like a team. Coming from two nil down to 2-1 then 3-1, then 3-2,then 3-3. Only players who have character can do that. Now we are closing for FIFA Break. We will take three weeks. And from there I think my boys will be recharged by then. And we will come back strong and try to improve on certain elements of the game. We know we are still growing as the technical team but the players are ready. So we need to catch up with the speed of the players because they are up there, but we are coming. We are coming strongly also,” Mammila concluded.
