The second instalment of the Carling Knockout is set to kick-off this October, following the official launch on Tuesday in Johannesburg.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL), in partnership with South Africa’s champion beer, Carling Black Label, announced the return of the Carling Knockout for a second edition. The Carling Knockout was introduced last year, was was successfully received by South Africa’s football loving fans.
This year’s tournament which will see the 16 Premier Division teams go against each other for the final glory, is set to be played between the months of October and December, with the first games playing in the weekend of 18 to 20 October.
The draw for this year’s tournament was also conducted at the launch, while the teams already know they opponents, the dates, times and venues will be announced by the PSL in due course.
Stellenbosch FC who won the inaugural edition of the Carling Knockout, start their title defense journey away from home against AmaZulu FC.
Meanwhile, the 2024 edition of the Carling Black Label Cup will be played at Orlando Stadium on 21 December.
Once again, this year’s winners of the Carling Knockout will get to face a Carling All-Star team that will be made up of players from the 15 other premier division clubs.
The first year of this game-changing model was warmly welcomed by champion fans who turned foes into friends for a day – fighting for the rights to lift the Carling Black Label Cup.
Voting is open as of 8 October and will run until 10 December.
