The recent loss to Golden Arrows on Sunday might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for the Amakhosi faithful as Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane had to be whisked off the field and escorted through the tunnel by police. This after a large part of the club’s supporters could be heard chanting his name, called for his sacking post-match.
Chiefs suffered a shocking 3-2 loss to Arrows in their Dstv Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, and their upcoming fixture on Saturday may be just as worrying. Chiefs will host long-time rivals, Orlando Pirates, a match where a win means bragging rights for the thousands of supporters of the winning side. The famous FNB Stadium will once again play host, kick-off is at 3:30pm.

Kaizer Chiefs management however have thrown their weight behind coach Zwane, calling for calmness and support for the players.
Speaking on Monday ahead of Saturday’s Soweto Derby, the club’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, reiterated the club’s faith in Zwane. Vodacom, who sponsors the two clubs, hosted a press conference to preview the much awaited derby, at their headquarters in Midrand, Johannesburg.
“At a time like this, I think as management – from the board of directors, our chairman, down through the rest of management – it’s about creating the right environment for the players to thrive. Bringing the right players, having top infrastructure and making the right decisions,” Motaung Jr said.
Under Zwane this season, Amakhosi have registered eight wins, four draws and eight defeats.
