Mamelodi Sundowns have officially lifted the DSTV Premiership trophy following weeks of sealing the deal, leading the DSTV Premiership League Log since the start of the 2023/24 season.  They had also created a huge points gap with the second and third clubs.

Sundowns, who hosted Cape Town City for their final match at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, were hoping to end the season with a new record of being unbeaten in the league, this was however not to be as they went down to City. Rulani Mokwena’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat, their very first this season and their first loss since September 2022.Eric Tinkler’s side meanwhile concluded their campaign on a high with a second successive win to leapfrog SuperSport United and TS Galaxy into fifth place.

Bafana ba Style were playing their 57th game of a gruelling season which saw them reach the MTN 8 final, the African Football League final and the CAF Champions League semifinals, with a Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates still to come.

Sundowns and Pirates will have one final dance for this season on Saturday in the Nedbank Cup finale. The sold-out affair will be at the Mbombela Stadium, kickoff is at 3pm.
