Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has spoken highly of Itumeleng Khune, highlighting how Khune was instrumental in helping him shape his goalkeeping career.

Bvuma was speaking on Thursday during the club’s final media day for the season in Naturena, ahead of their last home match against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium. Kick off is at 3pm.

Bvuma said he held the veteran goalie in high esteem for what he did for him in his early career days.

“What Itu has done for this club and country is massive. There is no goalkeeper who wouldn’t want to be like Itu. For me personally I am who I am today because of him. I used to train and play with the development side without a contract, but Itu encouraged me and told me that he had been there and that I should just continue working hard; things will work out for me.

Bvuma added that there was a lot he would miss from the shot stopper should he retire.

“He is a hard working person. Even now he still does extra work after training which helps him a lot and I will miss all that,” Bvuma said.

Meanwhile Bvuma was earlier this week announced at part of the 36-man Bafana Bafana provisional squad to play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

“It is every player’s dream to play for their national team, I am happy I am in the 36 but I have to work hard so that my form at club level can take me to the last 23. It’s always a privilege to represent your country and I am happy that my work is being noticed,” Bvuma concluded.
