Itumeleng Khune, Kaizer Chiefs’ longest serving player and goalkeeper will walk through the FNB tunnel for the last time as a player on Saturday when the club hosts Polokwane City in their final home match of the season.

After well over 10 years in Naturena, Khune is set to retire at the end of the season, and the club has announced that they would use this match to honour their legend.

On their official website, the club called on their fans to come out to the FNB Stadium to send off one of their most celebrated players in the club’s history.

Khune, a stalwart of South African football, has been a pillar of strength for Kaizer Chiefs for over two decades, having arrived as a youngster from Ventersdorp, in the North West, back in 1999.

Known for his exceptional goalkeeping skills and leadership on and off the field, Khune started in the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy before being promoted to the senior team at the start of the 2004/05 season.

Khune spent five years in the youth structures, and is currently in his record-setting 20th season with the senior team.

Saturday’s match will be the penultimate outing for the Glamour Boys, who wrap up the season in Cape Town against Cape Town Spurs on 25 May.

Kick-off is at 15:00, tickets are available at TicketPro online at www.ticketpros.co.za and in various stores such as Boxer and Spar Supermarkets, Postnet, Sasol, Shell and BP filling stations. Tickets are R60 per ticket.
