Kaizer Chiefs recorded their second win for the year following a 2-1 win over SuperSport United in a thriller match played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to this match Chiefs went 1-0 down to Richards Bay in Durban and SuperSport suffered a home defeat at the hands of Chippa United in Pretoria.
Amakhosi, who went into this match on the 10th spot in the DSTV Premiership League Log, almost settled for a point when United equalised in the second half.
Christian Saile registered his name first on the scoring sheet in the 19th minute for the hosts, who managed to keep the lead until the first half of the match ended.
United, who have been winless in 10 DStv Premiership matches on the trot, managed to come back into the match when Chiefs conceded a penalty. United’s Terrence Dzvukamanja calmly spotted the ball into the back of the net to give his side a much-needed equalizer.
Chiefs however were not going to go down without a fight, they managed to put a second goal through the net in the 76th minute through Mduduzi Shabalala. This is Shabalala’s first goal for the season, ending the Glamour Boys’ five-match winless streak in the league while SuperSport suffered their second consecutive defeat this week.
Amakhosi are now 8th on the League Log, with 33 points and only five matches to go before the current season ends, while United are on the 6th spot with 35 points, also with five matches left.
