Coming from an embarrassing loss to minnows Milford FC last Sunday in the Nedbank Cup, Kaizer Chiefs tried to redeem themselves when they squared up with Moroka Swallows in their DSTV Premiership match played at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
The two sides who have equally been sailing some rough seas recently, Chiefs with their string of bad results, and Swallows reportedly having financial issues, they both struggled to create goal scoring opportunities and failing to find the back of the net, going on the halftime break goalless.
The “original” Soweto Derby was one for drama, between the pouring rain, thunder and lightning, and a red card for Chiefs’ Edmilson Dove receiving a red card.

Two minutes into the second half, Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove was sent for an early shower when he was shown a straight red card for fouling a goal bound Gabadinho Mhango on the edge of the box.
However, in the 57th minute, referee Olani Kwinda was forced to halt the game due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with the stadium lights also going off at some stage.
After almost an hour of deliberation by the Crisis Group, match commissioner Johnny du Toit provided an update and allowed the game to resume under slippery conditions.

Both teams returned to the pitch revved up, as they took the game to each other, with the home side looking more livelier, despite being a man down.
Both teams settled for a point each.
Chiefs are currently 6th on the League Log with 26 points, while Swallows are on the 14th position with 18 points from their 18 matches currently played.
