DSTV Premiership side SuperSport United have teamed up with the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the formation of a ladies’ team, the club announced during a live broadcast in Randburg, Johannesburg.
The newly announced team which has been named the TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies FC, will aid the Tshwane-based premiership side in their CAF Champions League participation in the new season, as the African football body has made it mandatory for all clubs that qualify for Africa’s biggest championship to have a professional ladies team.
This historic merger comes after SuperSport United and TUT have partnered for the club to play all the 2023/24 first team and DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) matches at the University.
The team, affectionately known as #RedArmy was founded in 2009 as the high-performance ladies’ team for TUT.’
