Recently relegated Marumo Gallants FC honoured and celebrated their players for their campaign in the 2022/23 DSTV Premiership season, in an awards ceremony hosted at the Houghton Hotel, in Johannesburg on Sunday evening.
The awards ceremony, which was graced by the club’s footballers, technical team, management, and partners, comes a day after Gallants were relegated from topflight football, they are now off to play in National First Division’s Motsepe Foundation Championship in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
The awards also saw former Bafana Bafana player Lucas Radebe address the room as a guest speaker.
In his address of the evening, club chairman Abram Sello, thanked the players for their resilience throughout the season, both in the DSTV Premiership and in the CAF Confederation Cup. Gallants had a good showing in the Confederations Cup, where they proceeded into the semi-finals of the tournament, only to be knocked out by Young Africans of Tanzania last week in Rustenburg.

- Defender of the year – awarded to Mpho Mvelase
- Player of the year – awarded to Celimpilo Ngema
- Top Striker of the year – awarded to Ranga Chivaviro
- Chairman’s award [technical team] – awarded to Raymond Mdaka
- Chairman’s award – awarded to Washington Arubi
- Special appreciation award on Behalf of the Marumo Gallants Players
