Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena says the DSTV Premiership championship trophy is the most important trophy to win.

Mokoena was speaking on Tuesday evening after his side was crowned the champions for the 2022/2023 season at Loftus. Sundowns are winning their sixth consecutive Premiership title.

Mokwena says this as he prepares his team to face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca on Saturday’s CAF Champions League semi-final second league.

“It might not feel like it sometimes, but this is the most important trophy in the country, the most important, it’s the championship for ten months – home and away.

The Brazilians played their final match of the season against Maritzburg United, who came to the match fighting relegation. United have since moved up on the DSTV League Log, following their one all draw against the Yellow Nation.

Mokoena, who has begged his first championship as head coach, will be hoping to be on the winning side on Saturday against Wydad, kick-off is at 3pm at Loftus.
