South African football lovers are set to be spoilt this weekend in a mouth-watering clash as Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs face off in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup.
Chiefs and Pirates were pitted against each other following their triumph in their quarterfinal match a few weeks ago. The FNB Stadium will once again play host to this historic clash. Kick-off is at 3pm.
The winner of this match will play either Stellenbosch FC or Sekhukhune United, who will also sweat it out for a spot in the final. Stellenbosch will host Sekhukhune at the Danie Craven Stadium on 7 May, kick-off time is at 6pm.
While pride will be at stake in a match many have referred to as the “final before the final”, an opportunity to clinch some silverware this season will surely be grabbed with both hands by both teams.
The two clubs are already in contention for the second spot of the DSTV Premiership, following Mamelodi Sundowns’ retaining the league title once more. The Buccaneers are currently second on the league log with 50 points, while Amakhosi are on the 4th spot with 44 points.
Amakhoshi come off a 2-1 loss to Swallows FC on Monday, while Pirates played to a 1-1 draw against Royal AM on Wednesday afternoon at the Orlando Stadium.
Tickets are available online at www.ticketpros.co.za or in stores at Spar and Boxer Supermarkets, Sasol filling stations and Postnet outlets from R100 per ticket.
