With Mamelodi Sundowns now confirmed as the 2022/2023 DSTV Premiership champions, two precious spots are now up for grabs, and teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are on fighting mode.

Kaizer Chiefs are looking at tasting the glory of the CAF Champions League after coming close to clinching it in 2021, losing it to Al Ahly in the final.

Amakhosi, who are currently on the third spot in the Premier League Log with 40 points, will face off with bottom-placed Club, Marumo Gallants at FNB stadium on Saturday evening, kicking off at 20:00, to edge closer realising their dream of qualifying for the champions League.

The teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw when they met at Royal Bafokeng stadium back in September and this time around, Amakhosi will want to capitalise on their rich vein of form to bag all three points in front of their passionate home support.

Chiefs have had an unbeaten run of 5 matches and will be looking at extending their dominance to make a sixth win in a row.

Ashley Du Preez, who scored Chiefs’ opening goal from the penalty spot in last weekend’s 2-0 triumph over Stellenbosch FC, is eager to add to his goal tally in the service of the team’s progress.

Speaking on Wednesday during the club’s media day in Naturena, Johannesburg, Du Preez said, “As a team we are preparing well for the game and I am personally looking forward to it.”

“We want to continue winning. It is our aim every time we step onto the field. From an individual perspective, I want to score goals that help the team win,” he added.
