Soweto side Kaizer Chiefs have now shifted focus from the DSTV Premiership to the CAF Champions League, following Mamelodi Sundowns defence of the title. Sundowns are well on their way to retain the Premiership title for the sixth consecutive row, leaving clubs like Chiefs, Pirates and the other 13 clubs fight for the other spots in the league log.

In their bid to finish the league in the second position, Chiefs, who are currently 4th on the league log with 37 points, will have to put all their efforts into their last remaining games, and according to midfielder Keagan Dolly, they intend to do just that.

Speaking on Thursday at the club’s headquarters in Naturena, Johannesburg ahead of their weekend clash, Dolly said that they still had a lot of work to do.

“Once we saw that Sundowns ran away with the league our focus is to finish second and qualify for the champions league and I think we just need to focus on each and every League game we play. It will start with this weekend’s game, we need to get results, we need to win each game,” he said.

Dolly also touched a bit on the Nedbank Cup, which is currently still underway, he said that the club was also eyeing the title.

Amakhosi are in the quarterfinals of the Ke Yona challenge, they will trade blows with 2022 semifinalists Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday, 16 April. Kick-off is at 18h00.

Continued Dolly, “For us it is just to take each game as it comes and try to win that one, our main focus is to qualify for champions league and finish as high and as strong as we can.”

Chiefs play Stellenbosch at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, kick off is at 17:30pm.
