Once again Sekhukhune United were found wanting when they were beaten 1-0 by Chippa United in a DStv Premiership encounter played in Durban on Tuesday. United’s defeat comes at the back of another 3-1 defeat at the hands of SuperSport Unite. Meanwhile their opponents had just recorded a big 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the last DSTV Premiership match.
Speaking after the match Sekhukhune coach Kaitano Tembo said that though they started well in the first 15 minutes they failed to maintain the flow of the game.
“Look I think the first 15 minutes I thought we started very well, we put pressure on them. Our press was very good. I think we won a lot of balls in the final third. We had a lot of energy. They couldn’t really come out but the problem was our decision making as well. As soon as we won the ball we also gave it away especially in the midfield where Seabi as well as Thami Masia. So that made it a little bit difficult for us to penetrate so as well as the goal we conceded. From the restart,”he said.
Sekhukhune are currently 13th in the League Log with just 10 points, something that could be worrying for Tembo, who when continuing his post match review said that they thought they had the situation in control but “went to sleep”.
We didn’t do the basics in terms of defending. We turned our backs on the ball and they played and they got the goal. Now you start chasing the game and you become more desperate and that’s what we did especially in the second half. We became more desperate and when you are desperate it becomes easier for the opponent in terms of decision making, ” Tembo explained.
Their next match will be on October 30th, against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium.
