Kaizer Chiefs veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has made a promising come back aft being on the side-lines in recent years. Injuries and a somewhat weight gain kept the all time fam favourite off the field of play.

The former captain attributed his weight gain to his recent nuptials, jokingly saying his wife spoilt him. He was speaking on Thursday in Naturena ahead of chiefs weekend clash against SuperSport United at the FNB Stadium.

Khune now spots a very lean body and has been sharing his weight loss journey. He is lot slim, fit and has regained his position in the team as he has been in the starting eleven for the last two matches.

“When I got married my wife used to spoil me. She used to give me six meals a day. When I am doing nothing she used to ask me if I am okay and she would give me something to eat. I didn’t care what I ate and I started gaining weight. My performance in the field was good but we have a programme at the club where they check our bodies and it was found that I had more fat and I was taking too much water and that affected me,” Khune said.

“But after going through the programme I am slim now. I used to weigh 94kg and now I am weighing 84kg but I still want to lose more weight. Even if you look at my kit now it is loose. I won’t care even when people will say I have lost too much weight I am sick. I will say come test me and I will be negative. I just want to give it and be at my best, ” he added.

” It is not just simple that I am playing and I am automatically number one no, there are other goalkeepers who are waiting for their chance to play but I will give my best. Do well for Chiefs and maybe have another Bafana Bafana all up. But to do that I have to keep on fighting at club level and remain fit, ” Khune concluded.
