Two spots remain in the semi-finals of the MTN8 tournament after AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates FC emerged victors in their respective matches on Saturday.

AmaZulu emerged as 2-1 winners over Cape Town City after extra-time in an MTN8 quarterfinal match at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday evening. As a result, Usuthu became the first team to reach this season’s MTN8 semi-finals and the Durban-based side is next scheduled to take on Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership match on 3 September.

Meanwhile Orlando Pirates have put themselves into the semifinals of the MTN8 after they defeated hosts Royal AM 2-1 at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Buccaneers joined AmaZulu in the final four thanks to a hard-working performance, led by goals from Vincent Pule and Thabiso Monyane. Thwihli Thwahla, meanwhile, will feel they deserved more from their MTN8 debut, but were unable to convert their dominance of possession into a steady stream of scoring chances.

The stage is set for Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs as they will also want to proceed to the next stage of this competition, kick-off at the Danie Kraven studio is at 15:00pm. The City of Tshwane will host a decider match hat will produce the fourth club to feature in the semis, Mamelodi Sundowns will square off against rivals SuperSport United at the Tuks Stadium at 18:00pm.
