New Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro received a warm welcome when his side opened their 2022-23 DStv Premiership campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Soweto derby rivals Swallows FC at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
An early goal from new signing Eva Nga set the highlight of an impressive first-half performance from the Buccaneers as they dominated with a display of attractive and progressive football in front of a vibrant fans.
Swallows made a come back in the second half but were shy of the goal posts. Meanwhile, their head coach Dylan Kerr is awaiting his work permit, assistant coach Musa Nyatama led the Birds to the field of play.
