Bafana Bafana and Cape Town City left back Terrence Mashego has been released from camp and will not be traveling to Morocco with the team. The defender has a knee injury, meniscus tear.
Speaking to SAFA media on the eve of the team’s departure to Morocco, Mashego said it was sad that he was out of the squad, but believed that the players who were in the team would do a great job to help the team qualify for AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.
“Yeah it’s sad that I am injured and out at the moment but it’s not a very bad injury. It’s just a tear and I will be fine soon. I really wanted to be part of the team as we fight to qualify for the AFCON next year. But I think we have good players in my position like Lyle Lakay and Innocent Maela who will do a great job for the team. I wish the guys all the best as they go to Morocco and start the journey for the AFCON qualifiers, ” Mashego told SAFA Media.
Bafana Bafana leave for Morocco via Doha tonight at 20:50 and arrive in Casablanca tomorrow afternoon at 13:20, short bus trip to Rabat – final destination.
The friendly against Iran in Doha scheduled for next week.
