Just hours after announcing that they will not be renewing the contract of one of their star strikers, news has emerged that Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic’s move to KwaZulu Natal to join Royal AM FC is as good as done. Nurkovic’s contract at Chiefs ends at the end of June 2022.
The Serbian’s departure from Chiefs was announced yesterday along that of Lebogang Manyama, Leonardo Castro, and the others. Goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter also makes his way out of Naturena.
A source very close to Royal AM told Footballive that the club would like to have the striker in their books come next season.
“Yes Royal AM wants to sign Nurkovic for next season. I am not sure how many season they want to give him but they are really interested in signing him,” the source said.
Called for comment Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi didn’t want to commit himself on the issue. He said the player was still in the books of Kaizer Chiefs so they wouldn’t want to talk about him.
” For now I can’t say anything. He is a Chiefs player and I can’t say much about a player who belongs to another team,” Mnisi said.
The Serbian joined Amakhosi three seasons ago and scored 14 goals in his first season but the next two seasons were not very good for the striker due to injuries and hence the team has decided against renewing his contract which expires at the end of June.
