South African national football side Bafana Bafana lost five-nil in an international friendly against France last night and while many expected Bafana to lose, the five goals were too much to take. Bafana had just played fellow African giants Guinea last week, the two teams played to a 0-0 draw.

In last night’s match Bafana coach Hugo Broos paised France’s star Kylian Mbappé for his performance.

The Paris Saint-Germain star opened the scoring with a sensational curling effort from range before netting from the penalty spot late in the second half, with Olivier Giroud, Wissam Ben Yedder and Matteo Guendouzi the other scorers on the night. Mbappé scored two goals last night.

“He’s quick, he’s technically good and he can score, so if you have such a player in your team, you play with 12. France is already so good and they played with 12 against us so you know how difficult it was for us today.”

The 23-year-old has now scored 26 goals in 54 appearances for Les Bleus, including the fourth in France’s 4-2 FIFA World Cup final win over Croatia in 2018.

Bafana leave France tonight, and they are expected to arrive tomorrow morning.
