At the start of the current season, KwaZulu Natal side AmaZulu had set an eye on at least a fourth spot in the DSTV Premiership League Log, but as it stands, Usuthu are currently languishing in ninth position. This has surely set the panic buttons off at the Usuthu camp, resulting in the head coach, Benni McCarthy, being sent packing.

AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu on Friday officially confirmed the departure of head coach Benni McCarthy by mutual agreement while citing “a need for change”.

The news came as a shock as many had thought the club would keep McCarthy for a little longer as he was the one who guided them to their highest-ever finish as runners-up last season. McCarthy has not spoken out since the news of his departure broke, however, there are already rumours of interest for his services at Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.
