Orlando Pirates and Diables Noirs played to a goalless draw in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round tie on Friday. Pirates handed Kwanda Mngonyama and Bongani Sam their first starts of the season, and also re-called upon Bandile Shandu, Kabelo Dlamini and Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Orlando Pirates Coach Mandla Ncikazi has credited his players for the result, he said that the players showed character. Ncikazi said that taking into consideration the condition like the artificial turf and also how their opponents treated them the players really did very well.
“Now that we know our opponents and the way they play we will play our normal game in the return match. We know if we play our own game we have the chances of winning at home,” Ncikazi said.
The former Golden Arrows coach said he doesn’t see any problem why they can’t win when playing at home.
The 2nd leg match is scheduled for 24 October 2021 at the Orlando Stadium.
