Maritzburg United on Wednesday afternoon beat Marumo Gallants 1-0 in a DStv Premiership game which the Team of Choice kept until late to win. Amadou Soukouna scored a stunning late goal to lead Maritzburg United to a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants in a 2021/22 DStv Premiership match at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Victory moved the Team of Choice up to seventh on the league standings while Gallants, who have yet to score a goal in South Africa’s top flight, dropped to the foot of the table following a second defeat in three matches.
United coach Ernst Middendorp said that though they won the game they didn’t play according to how they had planned. “We had six new players in the starting eleven and it will take time for them to gel together but he added that they were happy that from the four games they have played so far they have six points. We have started playing the way we want though today it was not up to the standard we wanted but we happy for the three points, ” he said.
The German coach then praised Soukonou , the Scorer of the goal for a good game and a great goal.
Middendorp also thanked the goalkeeper for his good work and great saves to help them win the game.
