AmaZulu F.C coach Benni McCarthy has said that their DStv Premiership encounter against SuperSport United which ended in a goalless draw on Tuesday was a very physical game which had both teams finishing the game with ten men.

“Yes though the game was physical it was a one way traffic with the referee’s decision going mainly one side’ the referee lost control of the game. When Tracious Malepe was sent off he didn’t even touch the opposition player; that’s why our South African players fail to establish themselves overseas. They are just mediocre because they fake things in the field of play instead of working hard. How can you roll down like that, but you know the opposition player didn’t even touch you? This is not good at all for our football, ” he said.

The former Orlando Pirates player added that the fourth official was busy talking to the referee on which decision he should take which was not good.

McCarthy was however happy with the fighting spirit, dedication and commitment his players showed even when they were one man down as they didn’t give SuperSport any chance to score and win the game.

“I am lamenting our own lack of goal action from our strikers and maybe it’s because I spoke publicly that I am looking for another striker. This didn’t mean that I have lost trust or confidence in the strikers but that we wanted to have another striker for different kinds of games. I still trust and have confidence in my strikers, and they are doing their best and I know things will change soon,” McCarthy added.

He says that in the five games they have played in three different tournaments they have only scored one goal and that’s not good at all.

In conclusion he said the other difficult part to their side is that they have played only the top eight teams in league since the start of the season and that has been difficult for them.
