Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has spoken out about excessive squads local clubs boast and this, he said, “forces” good players to sit on the bench while they wait their turn to play. Broos says that this situation makes it difficult for the national team to select players to represent the national side.

Broos was speaking after his announcement of the squad that will take on Zimbabwe and Ghana in the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.

Broos adds that the predicament may have an impact soon because even the players with quality and potential don’t play for their teams. He adds that this poised a difficulty for the national team to select players for games.

“The forth coming games against Zimbabwe and Ghana will not be a problem because they were in preseason training, and they played some games. In the future it will be a problem, ” he says.

Broos joined Bafana a few months back following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki.
