AmaZulu F.C coach Benni McCarthy has voiced out his concern over the level of referring his team was said to have been subjected on Thursday evening when his team faced Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
Speaking after their 1-0 defeat, McCarthy said that his side was “outplayed” by the referee, which resulted in them falling to the Buccanners.
McCarthy, a former Bucs player himself, said that he can’t fault his players for the loss but instead he praised their dedication and commitment in the game.
“Pirates didn’t play on the day but in football at times you are just lucky to get the decisions from the referee which goes your way and that is what happened with Pirates and they scored from one of those decisions by the referee,” he said.
McCarthy added that his team should have at least earned a point from the match. “I told my players that the last three games are all cup finals because teams want to beat us and that these teams want to be where we are on the log,” he added.
“Now we will go back to the drawing board and make sure that we rectify the mistakes from the Pirates game going into the two final games of the season and make sure we finish second ,” he added.
